This 1981 transmission electron microscopic (TEM) image, reveals some of the morphologic traits exhibited by a large group of feline calicivirus (FCV) virions, a Caliciviridae family member. FCV virions average 35nm - 40nm in diameter, and exhibit cup-like surface depressions, which sometimes manifest as a Star of David array. Symptoms seen in infected cats involve the upper respiratory symptoms included oral ulcerations, and pneumonitis.
