Caption:
Captured somewhere in the Middle Eastern nation of Iraq, during an unidentified Iraqi Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) outbreak investigation, this image depicted FETP residents in the process of analyzing a public water spigot, which was used to fill a small cement cistern, as part of the investigative process. Data collected from this exercise will help to trace the cause, and origins of this undefined outbreak. The FETP trains workers on the ground to help countries build sustainable capacity for detecting and responding to health threats. The program develops in-country expertise, so that disease outbreaks can be detected locally and prevented from spreading.
