Captured in the village of Barkhan, near Pakistan’s capital city of Islamabad, December 2012, this image showed us an open source of water supplying this community. During a Pakistani Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) investigation, this water source was tested for the presence of any detrimental contaminants. The FETP trains workers on the ground to help countries build sustainable capacity for detecting and responding to health threats. The program develops in-country expertise so that disease outbreaks can be detected locally and prevented from spreading.
