Photographed in 2009, in the dry Egyptian dessert, by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Global Health epidemiologist, this photograph depicted, from left to right, the great pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the pyramid of Khafre (Khafra) with remnants of its originally polished limestone pinnacle, and the pyramid of Menkaure. Adjacent to the Menkaure pyramid, and only partially visible from this view, are three smaller pyramids, which are known as the Queen’s Pyramids. Together, this pyramid grouping is referred to as the Pyramids of Giza.
