Caption:
This transmission electron microscopic (TEM) image depicted numbers of Gram-negative, Elizabethkingia anophelis bacteria, which had been isolated from specimens obtained during the 2016 outbreak in Wisconsin. Note this organism’s characteristically wavy cell wall. This view showed us that some of the bacteria had been cut longitudinally, and some transaxially, i.e., perpendicular to the long axis.
