Caption:
Under a magnification of 500X, this photomicrograph of a culture specimen, revealed ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the filamentous fungal organism, Phialophora jeanselmei, also known as Exophiala jeanselmei. Note the short, peg-like conidiophore topped by its elongated, cigar-shaped conidia, and the characteristic torulose hyphae, which exhibit a vacuolated appearance.
