This photomicrograph of a kidney tissue specimen, revealed histopathologic changes, including marked vacuolation of the renal tubule epithelial cells. This specimen was harvested from a patient who had presented with low potassium blood levels, referred to as hypokalemia. In this case, the cause for this patient’s overlying hypokalemia was not revealed here.
