This photograph depicted a gross pathology specimen, consisting of a coronal view of a human thyroid gland, which had undergone pathologic changes due to a case of colloid nodular goiter, in which case the cells lining the follicles of the thyroid, underwent hyperplasia, and subsequently filled the follicles with colloid.
