This section of human skin was excised from a patient with a vitamin A deficiency (VAD). The photomicrograph revealed a hyperkeratotic hair follicle, as a result from the patient’s hypovitaminosis A condition. Note the clogged follicle, which had been filled with a nodule of dead skin.
