Entitled, “Febrile Illness in Kenya”, this image was captured by EIS Officer, Ryan Novak, PhD, during his stint as an Emerging Infectious Disease Fellow with the Meningitis and Special Pathogens Branch (NCID/DBMD). The photo depicted a public health officer in Kenya, as he conducted an interview with two teenage boys in their home, following an outbreak of an unexplained febrile illness in 2004. This photo earned Dr. Novak a hand in a three-way tie for the Second Place award in the 2006 CDC Connects Annual Public Health in Action Photo Contest, in the category of People-International.
