This image depicted a ventral view of an Ornithodoros sp. soft tick. It is a member of the family Argasidae. This view revealed its four pairs of jointed legs, placing it in the class of Arachnida. Members of this genus are known to transmit the disease tick borne relapsing fever (TBRF) to humans, caused by the bacterium of the genus, Borrelia.
