Caption:
This historic photograph depicts a World Health Organization (WHO) Smallpox Eradication Program search vehicle moving through a crowded street in central Dacca (Dhaka), Bangladesh. The image was captured during the first search conducted after the August 15, 1975 coup d'état and assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Note the Red Cross emblem placed on the vehicle’s windscreen, which allowed the WHO search team to pass without hindrance.
