Caption:
This photomicrograph depicts a tissue section obtained from a lesion in a patient diagnosed with chromoblastomycosis. The image reveals a small cluster of thick-walled, brown-pigmented fungal cells (arrow), the specific organism not specified, contained within one of several intraepidermal abscesses. The apparent fusion of these rounded cells forms what is referred to as a septate body. Note also the overlying epithelial hyperplasia.
