These two test tube slant cultures, labeled from left to right ALA.1-1B and ALA.9-4B, contain an unspecified growth medium inoculated with soil samples originating from Alabama, from which colonies of the fungal organism Cryptococcus neoformans were isolated. The general colonial morphology is characteristic of C. neoformans, displaying a brown-beige coloration and a smooth surface texture; however, each culture exhibits distinct morphological variation.
