Caption:
This image depicts a dissection of a cow’s udder affected by mastitis caused by the bacterium Nocardia asteroides. The arrowheads indicate a quarter of the gland that appears uninvolved. Note the inflammatory response with thick bands of fibrotic tissue in the affected regions, accompanied by increased nodularity and areas of coalescing reddish purulent glandular material.
