Captured in 1965, this photograph presents a close superior view of several non-reproductive female worker Eastern yellowjackets, Vespula maculifrons, on a section of their nest comb. Numerous cells are covered by a white fibrous cap, beneath which developing larvae and pupae undergo maturation into adult wasps. This image was credited to and donated by Associate Professor Dr. M.V. Smith, Department of Agriculture, Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
