This historic photograph presents the site of the tomb of American bacteriologist Samuel Taylor Darling, who in 1906 discovered the fungal pathogen Histoplasma capsulatum. The tomb is located in Beirut, Lebanon, where Dr. Darling was killed in a 1925 car crash. See PHIL 24391 for a portrait of Dr. Darling.
