Captured on the fifth day of illness, this photograph depicts a close intraoral view of a patient’s mouth, revealing mucosal lesions known as Koplik spots on the left buccal mucosa, associated with measles infection. Koplik spots typically appear 1–2 days before to 1–2 days after the onset of the cutaneous rash and are considered pathognomonic for measles, presenting as punctate blue-white lesions on an erythematous background of the buccal mucosa.
