At a magnification of 50.5X, this photomicrograph of a lung tissue specimen reveals histopathologic changes associated with measles pneumonia. Numerous leukocytes are present, along with two multinucleated giant cells in the center of the field. Although nuclear inclusions are often observed within these giant cells, they are not visualized in this case. The normal alveolar cytoarchitecture has been obliterated.
