This image depicts an anterior view of a man’s face. The patient presented with nodular lepromatous leprosy, involving the chin, brow ridge and forehead, and nose. Note the thickened, roughened, and nodular appearance of the skin in these regions. Leprosy is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. This view was captured one year earlier than the image depicted in PHIL 24521, which shows marked improvement in this patient’s condition.
