Caption:
This image depicts an anterior view of a man’s face. The patient presented with nodular lepromatous leprosy, involving the chin, brow ridge and forehead, and nose. Note the reduction in thickening and nodularity of the skin in these regions. Leprosy is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae. This view was captured one year later than the image depicted in PHIL 24520, which showed a markedly more severe presentation of the disease.
