Under 500X magnification, this photomicrograph highlights the histopathologic effects of post-necrotic cirrhosis on a liver tissue specimen of viral origin. Note the regenerated hepatic tissue with loss of normal hepatocellular architecture, as well as the presence of broad bands of connective tissue replacing necrotic liver parenchyma as a result of hepatitis.
