This image shows a right lateral view of a woman’s head. The patient presented with cladosporiosis, or cerebral phaeohyphomycosis, caused by the dematiaceous fungus Cladophialophora bantiana (formerly Cladosporium bantianum). In this view, an abscess involving the brain has extended through the overlying right parietal region of the scalp. See PHIL 24692 and 24693 for views of the patient’s brain at autopsy, and PHIL 17664 for a broader right lateral view of the head.
