Caption:
At moderate magnification between that shown in PHIL 24757 and 24759, this photomicrograph reveals histopathologic features of a tissue section from a patient with rhinosporidiosis caused by Rhinosporidium seeberi. At the center is a mature sporangium with a thick wall containing numerous endospores at varying stages of development; immature endospores are located at the periphery, while mature endospores are more centrally positioned. Numerous smaller, immature sporangia are also dispersed throughout the section.
