Under 600X magnification, this PAS-stained photomicrograph of lung tissue from a sulphur-crested cockatoo, Cacatua galerita, designated tissue sample #320, highlights histopathologic findings consistent with pulmonary aspergillosis caused by Aspergillus fumigatus. Note the network of numerous darkly stained filamentous mycelia, as well as several fan-shaped conidial heads.
