This image depicts a right anterior-oblique view of a young boy’s head and neck, highlighting a scalp lesion diagnosed as favus, a form of tinea capitis caused by a dermatophytic fungal organism. The erythematous, crusted lesion in the temporal region of the scalp is accompanied by alopecia. See PHIL 25115, 25116, and 25117 for additional views of this child’s condition.
