Caption:
This photograph depicts a dorsal view of a patient’s right hand, highlighting a dermatophytosis (ringworm) infection caused by the fungus Trichophyton rubrum. Note the characteristic findings, including crusted skin overlying the metacarpophalangeal (MP) joints and fingers, as well as eroded fingernails and nail beds consistent with onychomycosis. The image was captured prior to treatment with the antifungal medication griseofulvin. See PHIL 25389 for a view of the same hand after treatment began.
