After treatment with the antifungal medication griseofulvin began, this image highlights therapeutic progress in restoring the dorsal skin surface and nails of this patient’s right foot toward a more normal appearance. The patient had a dermatophytosis (ringworm) infection caused by the fungus Trichophyton rubrum. The skin overlying the metatarsophalangeal (MP) joints and toes still exhibits scaling and slight erythema, indicating that the healing process is ongoing.
