This photomicrograph shows an eye obtained at autopsy from a newborn infant and sectioned in a parasagittal plane. The infant died with a diagnosis of cytomegalic inclusion disease (CID), also referred to as cytomegalic inclusion body disease (CIBD), caused by cytomegalovirus (CMV).
