Caption:
This image shows you an earlier educational brochure demonstrating what had been, the proper technique for collecting an acceptable blood spot specimen, from an infant’s heel. One very important change to this illustrated procedure, would reflect the implementation of proper procedural protocols, which would be the inclusion of protective gloves to be worn by the public health technician, in order to protect the technician from possible self-contamination.
