This image shows five slant culture test tubes containing vitamin-free casein agar supplemented with calcium pantothenate, each inoculated with the dermatophytic fungal organism Trichophyton tonsurans. Note that each specimen produces a colony with subtle variations in morphology, while overall colony size appears relatively uniform.
