This image depicts an anterior view of four slant culture test tubes illustrating the effect of high concentrations of ornithine on cultures of Trichophyton tonsurans. Test tubes 1 and 2, containing a deficient strain, received ornithine at concentrations of 100 mg/50 mL and 250 mg/50 mL, respectively, while tubes 3 and 4, containing the normal strain, received the same concentrations. Note the reduction in colonial growth at the higher concentration of 250 mg/50 mL.
