At a magnification of 100X, this photomicrograph shows a chicken intestinal tissue specimen demonstrating numerous Eimeria tenella protozoa developing within the intestinal crypts of the mucosa. This organism causes avian coccidiosis in poultry. See PHIL 27228 for a higher magnification view of this histopathology.
