At a magnification of 400X, this photomicrograph shows a chicken intestinal tissue specimen demonstrating numerous Eimeria tenella protozoa developing within the intestinal crypts of the mucosa. This organism causes avian coccidiosis in poultry. See PHIL 27227 for another view of this histopathology.
