Under 1250X magnification, this photomicrograph shows a deparaffinized splenic tissue section observed using fluorescence microscopy following treatment with fluorescein-labeled anti-L. monocytogenes globulin. The specimen, obtained from a case of listeriosis, demonstrates intense fluorescence causing Listeria monocytogenes bacteria to appear as bright, nearly white masses.
