Caption:
Captured in 1960, this historic photograph depicted a public health practitioner administering an oral polio vaccine (OPV) to a young child seated in her highchair, as her head was immobilized by her observant mother. The scenario had taken place during the 1960s Rhode Island Polio Epidemic Vaccination Campaign, and this family was amongst a case contact list.
