Captured in Guatemala, Central America, this image shows an anterosuperior view of a patient’s legs and feet, highlighting manifestations of lepromatous leprosy (Hansen’s disease). Note the loss of toes on the right foot and the presence of hypo- and hyperpigmented patches of skin. The associated facial changes, often referred to as leonine facies, are shown in PHIL 28917. This condition is caused by Mycobacterium leprae.
