Captured in Guatemala, Central America, this image shows a right lateral view of a patient’s head, highlighting structural changes associated with lepromatous leprosy (Hansen’s disease), caused by Mycobacterium leprae. Note the marked nasal tissue loss, with resorption resulting in a reduced nasal protuberance. See PHIL 28920 for an anterior view of this patient’s condition.
