This photograph shows a close frontal view of a CDC Lombard-Dowell (LD) Presumpto Plate II quadrant plate, focusing on two quadrants containing LD agar supplemented with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and the indicator toluidine blue. These quadrants were inoculated with unspecified anaerobic bacteria to assess DNase (deoxyribonuclease) activity. DNA hydrolysis is indicated by a color change in the medium; quadrant 3 demonstrates a positive reaction, while quadrant 4 shows no color change, indicating a negative result.
