This quadrant was inoculated with an unspecified anaerobic bacterium to assess casein hydrolysis. A positive reaction produces a zone of clearing in the opacified medium surrounding bacterial growth on the agar surface; here, a distinct halo is visible, indicating a positive casein hydrolysis result.
