Caption:
This photograph shows a close frontal view of a CDC Lombard-Dowell (LD) Presumpto Plate II quadrant plate, focusing on the quadrant containing LD agar supplemented with casein. This quadrant was inoculated with an unspecified anaerobic bacterium to assess casein hydrolysis. A positive reaction produces a zone of clearing in the opacified medium surrounding bacterial growth on the agar surface; here, only a faint, ill-defined halo is present, indicating a weak positive casein hydrolysis result.
