This photograph shows a close frontal view of a CDC Lombard-Dowell (LD) Presumpto Plate I quadrant plate containing LD egg yolk agar (EYA). Each quadrant was inoculated with a different unspecified anaerobic bacterium to assess enzymatic activity. Quadrant 3 demonstrates a lecithinase-positive reaction, characterized by an opaque precipitate surrounding the bacterial growth, while quadrant 4 shows a lipase-positive reaction, indicated by an iridescent, pearly sheen over and around the growth.
