This photograph shows a close frontal view of a CDC Lombard-Dowell (LD) Presumpto Plate I quadrant plate, focusing on the quadrant containing LD egg yolk agar (EYA). This quadrant was inoculated with the anaerobic bacterium Fusobacterium necrophorum to assess lipase activity. A positive reaction is indicated by an iridescent, pearly sheen associated with bacterial growth; here, a faint sheen is observed over small colonies, suggestive of a weak lipase reaction.
