Caption:
This photograph shows a close frontal view of a CDC Lombard-Dowell (LD) Presumpto Plate I quadrant plate, focusing on a quadrant containing LD agar. This quadrant was inoculated with an unspecified anaerobic bacterium to assess indole production. Following incubation, a paper disk was placed on the bacterial growth and treated with indole reagent. Development of a blue color on the disk indicates a positive reaction, demonstrating conversion of tryptophan to indole; here, the reaction is less intense than that shown in PHIL 28990, consistent with a weaker positive result.
