This photograph shows a close frontal view of a CDC Lombard-Dowell (LD) Presumpto Plate I quadrant plate, focusing on a quadrant containing LD agar. This quadrant was inoculated with an unspecified anaerobic bacterium to assess indole production. Following incubation, a paper disk was placed on the bacterial growth and treated with indole reagent. Absence of a blue color change on the disk indicates a negative reaction; here, the lavender-pink coloration reflects the reagent baseline, consistent with lack of conversion of tryptophan to indole.
