This image shows administration of a Mantoux tuberculin skin test on the volar surface of the left forearm. Tuberculin is injected intradermally using a needle and syringe. In individuals with current or prior infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the test site may develop erythema and induration within 48 to 72 hours.
