This image shows a cutaneous anthrax lesion on the volar surface of the right forearm of a 50-year-old female patient. The patient had worked as a carder in a wool factory for 6 years. At the time of imaging, the lesion was in the 4th day of illness. Cutaneous anthrax is caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis and typically occurs following skin contact with contaminated animal products such as meat, wool, hides, or leather.
