Caption:
This left lateral cranial radiograph shows findings consistent with empty sella syndrome. In this condition, the sella turcica appears enlarged or partially empty due to flattening of the pituitary gland, which normally resides within this sphenoid bone depression beneath the cerebral hemispheres. Although best demonstrated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), these findings in this case were attributed to a familial congenital abnormality.
