This historic image, captured in 1963 in the port city of Georgetown, Guiana (now the Co-operative Republic of Guyana), was taken during the country’s polio vaccination campaign. It depicts one of the Communicable Disease Center’s (CDC) epidemiologists, Dr. Feldman, in a repair shop awaiting the repair of his bicycle so he could resume his epidemiologic investigation during the Georgetown polio epidemic.
