This historic image from 1978, depicted a sign that had been posted on a door to one of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) buildings announcing that caution need be taken upon entering the facility, due to the presence of the smallpox virus inside this controlled environment. The universal biohazard symbol was displayed on this cautionary sign.
